YoFestival Trivia

YoFestival is an annual event held by YoFES in honor of Haitian Mother's Day. Traditionally, it also marks the conclusion of Haitian Heritage Month festivities in Boston.

It's also a pun, or play on words! YoFES + Festival = YoFestival. Get it?

In past years, YoFestival has taken the form of a large scale concert held at The Strand Theatre in Dorchester. Friends and supporters gather together to celebrate the strength, progress, and thriving culture of the greater Boston Haitian community. Students perform to compete for prizes and to showcase their yearly musical development, and audiences also enjoy appearances by YoFES staff, local artists, and public figures.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, YoFES was unable to host an in-person event for YoFestival in 2020 and 2021. As always, YoFES's first priority is to ensure that our communities remain safe and healthy. At the same time, we also recognize the need to keep joy and excitement alive, especially during difficult times. Plus, it just wouldn't be May without doing something  to celebrate Haitian pride, heritage, and culture! We compromised and made our celebrations virtual.
